If you don’t know what you’re doing yet for the 4th, make plans now to attend Goose Creek’s Fabulous Fourth in the Creek. In years past the event was held at the Westview schools campus; however, this year it’s slated for City Hall, out on Highway 52. You’ll want to get there early, as parking is limited. Last year outside coolers were allowed but food and drink vendors were on hand as well. There were pony rides, jump castles, and bungee jumping. My kids were 4 and 2 then, and they had a ball. There was also a live band and tons (I mean tons) of fireworks. It was a great time. Hope to see you there! Don’t forget lawn chairs and/or blankets…
Just wanted to clarify what this year’s Fabulous Fourth event will entail. Due to space restrictions at the Municipal Center, the event will only feature music and fireworks. The pony rides, jump castles, etc. will not be available this year. The huge fireworks display will be the focus of the night. Because of the parking and space restrictions, as well as the fact that this venue is off a very busy highway, we’re asking everyone to make safety a priority. Carpool if you can, watch out for children and drive with caution. For details on the event, visit http://www.cityofgoosecreek.com.
Thanks!
Thanks for the clarification Casey. Any reason for the venue change?
There are too many trailers at Westview now, so the fireworks company didn’t have the clearance area they needed to safely shoot off the fireworks. The Recreation Commission had to decide whether to offer a scaled down event at another venue, or whether to cancel it entirely. I’m sure anyone who has seen the wonderful fireworks will be glad to know they weren’t canceled this year!
Just wondering what the fireworks started and when would be a good time to arrive for them. Also, where would parking be? Thank You, Debby
Hi Debby,
Thanks for your questions and please accept my apology for such a late response! Seems like the fireworks started at about dark – between 8:30 and 9:00 – and parking is off of 52 near the City Hall building. There will be plenty of cones and police directing traffic, so you’ll know exactly where to go and what to do. I recommend getting there an hour or two early for good parking and set-up, but there’s not a bad seat in the house, so arriving close to start time shouldn’t make it difficult to see the fireworks once they’ve started.
